Miguel Francisco Guzman, 31, of Woodbridge Township, New Jersey, was sentenced on Apr. 2 to 168 months in federal prison and ten years of supervised release for child exploitation and drug distribution offenses, according to David X. Sullivan, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut.
The case highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to address crimes involving the sexual abuse and exploitation of minors.
Court documents show that on March 18, 2025, Guzman began messaging a girl under the age of thirteen in Connecticut through Snapchat. He solicited sexually explicit images from her and sent her explicit images of himself. Later that night, Guzman traveled to Connecticut where he engaged in sexual conduct with the minor victim and coerced her into ingesting cocaine.
A court-authorized search revealed that between March and May 2025, Guzman also attempted to solicit sexually explicit images from other minors using Snapchat. He has been detained since his arrest on August 12, 2025. On November 6, he pleaded guilty to one count of enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity and one count of distribution of a controlled substance to a person under age twenty-one.
The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation with assistance from local police departments in Connecticut as well as the Woodbridge Township Police Department in New Jersey. Assistant U.S. Attorney Katherine E. Boyles prosecuted the case with support from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey.
This prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood Initiative by the U.S. Department of Justice aimed at protecting children from sexual abuse and exploitation.
