WASHINGTON–U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) on Sunday released the following statement on President Biden’s announcement of additional actions to fully implement and maximize the benefits of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act:

“Not even a year after it was signed into law, the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act is already saving lives every single day. We’ve kept more guns out of dangerous hands, cracked down on more traffickers, and delivered more federal funding to keep schools and communities safe than ever before. We need to build on that success, and today’s actions will help ensure implementation of this legislation is as effective as possible. The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act would not have been possible without Joe Biden’s leadership, and I’m so proud we have a president who continues to view the issue of gun violence with the urgency it demands.”
