The Hartford men’s tennis team lost to Endicott College by a score of 7-0 on Apr. 19, closing out its Conference of New England schedule.
The result marks the end of the team’s conference play for the season. The match also served as Senior Day, with the Hawks honoring their only senior, Kamau Nicholas, who joined Hartford last year and was one of the first members of the newly established men’s tennis program.
During doubles play, Endicott secured the point after competitive matches. In number one doubles, freshman Max Poss and sophomore Jake Short were narrowly defeated 7-6. Sophomore Anthony Pomares and freshman Yande Simunyola lost their pairing 6-1, while freshmen Thomas Andersen and Jared DeGruttola fell in third doubles by a score of 6-4.
In singles action, Endicott swept all matches. Poss won his first set against Conrad Kadel but ultimately lost in a points tiebreaker with a final score of 10-4.
Looking ahead, Hartford is scheduled to face Western Connecticut State University tomorrow at 3:30 PM.
