The University of Hartford men’s lacrosse team defeated Wentworth Institute of Technology 15-9 on Apr. 22, concluding their regular season and advancing to the Conference of New England playoffs.

This victory marks an important moment for the Hawks as they prepare for postseason play. The outcome sets the stage for their next matchup, which will be determined ahead of the tournament’s first round.

Junior Colin Reilly opened scoring within the first minute, setting an early tone for Hartford. Both teams traded goals throughout a competitive first quarter, entering the second tied at three. Reilly and junior Maxton McPhee led a quick offensive push after halftime to reclaim and extend Hartford’s lead. Sophomore Ian Reynolds played a key role by dominating face-offs, helping maintain offensive pressure.

In the third quarter, sophomore Nick Ugolini scored unassisted while goalkeeper CJ Ledwick made crucial saves to keep Wentworth scoreless during that period. The Hawks capitalized on a man advantage at the start of the fourth quarter with another goal from Michael Novotny. Reilly finished with five goals and one assist, while McPhee recorded a career-high three goals in one game. Reynolds won 17 out of 22 face-offs and collected 11 ground balls; Ledwick tallied 11 saves across all four quarters.

The Hawks will next compete in the opening round of the Conference of New England tournament on Saturday, April 25th at home with a noon start time.

As postseason play approaches, Hartford looks to build on its momentum from this final regular season victory.
