The University of Hartford men’s lacrosse team secured a 15-4 win over Roger Williams University on April 14 in West Hartford, Connecticut.
The victory highlights the team’s strong performance both offensively and defensively, giving them momentum as they approach upcoming games.
Sophomore Ian Reynolds helped the Hawks gain an early advantage by winning the opening faceoff. Junior Colin Reilly scored twice in the first quarter, with additional goals from Maxton McPhee and Trent Beggs. The team led 4-2 after one quarter. In the second quarter, Aidan Ezra scored off a pass from Reilly, and Michael Novotny added another goal before halftime to give Hartford a 6-2 lead.
Hartford continued to control the game in the third quarter with goals from Reilly, Ezra, and senior Aidan Kemp. The defense held strong throughout multiple penalties while junior goalkeeper CJ Ledwick made several key saves. By the end of the third period, Hartford led by seven goals.
In the final quarter, Shaun Wright scored first for Hartford before Gavin Pelletier and Nick Ugolini added late goals. Despite a man-down goal from RWU, Hartford finished with a decisive margin.
Reilly led all scorers with four goals and two assists while also collecting two ground balls and forcing one turnover. Ezra contributed three goals and an assist; Wright had three assists and one goal along with two ground balls. Reynolds went 10-for-16 on faceoffs and collected six ground balls. Ledwick made ten saves while allowing only four goals during his sixty minutes in net.
The Hawks are scheduled to play Endicott College next Saturday at Beverly.
