The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has announced changes to the Hartford Line schedule due to Amtrak’s planned track work. The adjustments will be in effect from the evening of Friday, July 11, 2025, through early morning Monday, July 14, 2025. These changes are necessary for the Wood Interlocking Project and the construction of a new station at Windsor Locks.

Most trains will require busing as part of these service adjustments. CTDOT explains that “busing is necessary to support Amtrak’s Wood Interlocking project,” which involves replacing track components to enhance maintenance and reliability. Additionally, upgrades will be made to the railroad bridge crossing over Capitol Avenue in Hartford.

Passengers can view the adjusted schedule at hartfordline.com. Substitute buses will honor train fares; passengers must purchase a CTrail or Amtrak ticket to board them. Buses will make stops at all scheduled stations, although times may vary due to traffic conditions.

Specific bus substitutions include:

– On July 11: Amtrak 148 and Amtrak 136 will be bused between New Haven and Springfield, MA.
– On July 12 and 13: All Amtrak trains will be bused between New Haven and Springfield, MA; all CTrail trains will be bused between Berlin and Springfield, MA.
– On July 14: Amtrak 141 and Amtrak 125 will be bused between Springfield, MA, and New Haven.
