The Hartford Hawks softball team split a doubleheader against Suffolk University on April 18 in Boston, with each team claiming one victory during their Conference of New England matchup.

The results highlight the competitive nature of the conference as both teams demonstrated strong performances across two games. The first game saw Hartford take an early lead with contributions from Katrina Baran and Alyssa Edwards, but Suffolk rallied late to secure a 6-5 walk-off win. In the second game, Hartford responded by building a substantial lead and ultimately winning 8-2.

In Game 1, Baran drove in the opening run with a sacrifice bunt before Edwards extended the lead with an RBI single. Senior Anita Farkash added another run for Hartford with an RBI double in the fifth inning. Despite these efforts, Suffolk managed to tie the game twice and eventually won on a walk-off single in the seventh inning. Senior Gia Miccio led at the plate for Hartford going three-for-four, while pitcher Carly Mayhood started and recorded five strikeouts over five innings.

Game 2 featured strong offensive production from Hartford. Adelie Beebe opened scoring with a sacrifice fly before Farkash delivered a two-run double as part of a four-run third inning. Freshman Alina Weaver hit a home run that brought in two more runs later in the game. Pitcher Ella Zobel started for Hartford, allowing just one run over six innings while striking out six batters.

Afterward, Farkash said postgame: “It was great to see the team come together and be aggressive both offensively and defensively. Knowing I have the support of my teammates makes it easy for us to put together hits and have success like we did today.” The Hawks are scheduled to host Gordon College on April 22 for another conference doubleheader.
