Keith Staschke of Guilford, Connecticut, has won a $500,000 top prize in the CT Lottery’s “CA$HWORD 2nd Edition” scratch game. Staschke, a regular lottery player since turning 18, purchased the winning ticket at the Guilford Xtra Mart on Boston Post Road. He was drawn to the crossword-style games for their engaging nature and longer play experience.
Upon scratching his ticket, Staschke initially thought he hadn’t won until he reached the bottom of the ticket. There, he revealed 10 complete words and realized he had secured the game’s top prize. “The first thought I had was retirement… pushing that up by a few months,” said Staschke. “I’m definitely a happy guy—and I’ve got a happy wife too!”
As a result of selling the winning ticket, Guilford Xtra Mart will receive a $5,000 bonus. The “CA$HWORD 2nd Edition” is a new release from the CT Lottery and Keith is its first winner. Two other top prize tickets are still available.
The Connecticut Lottery Corporation (CLC) emphasizes its commitment to generating revenue for Connecticut while adhering to public policy and social responsibility standards.
