FOIA Request to University of Connecticut Regarding Chinese National Students on June 4, 2025.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, Constitution State News has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the University of Connecticut. This request seeks detailed information concerning Chinese National students currently enrolled at the university.

Our inquiry includes several specific requests:

1. We are asking for documents or lists that identify all current students who are Chinese Nationals and their respective departments of study. If this information is protected, we have requested the total number of such students and a breakdown by department.

2. We seek records detailing the scholarships received by these students, including the amount and source of each scholarship.

3. Additionally, we have requested information about any scholarships granted by entities affiliated with the Chinese Scholarship Council, particularly if not covered in our previous request.

4. Lastly, we are interested in understanding how the university monitors its students, including Chinese Nationals, to safeguard its Intellectual Property and other confidential information.

This request is made on behalf of The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to investigating state and federal governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws. As members of the media, access to public records is crucial for us to hold public institutions accountable and ensure transparency for the public. We have also requested a fee waiver given our role in disseminating this important information.

We look forward to receiving a response from the University of Connecticut that will help us continue our mission of informing the American electorate about significant governmental actions.
