Five members of the Yale men’s and women’s squash teams were named as College Squash Association (CSA) Scholar-Athlete Award winners, according to an April 15 announcement from the university.

The CSA Scholar-Athlete Award recognizes student-athletes who have demonstrated both academic achievement and athletic performance. Recipients must be juniors or seniors, have earned at least two varsity letters, participated in most of their team’s matches within the top ten lineup spots during the season, and maintained high academic standing at their institution.

From the men’s team, Arav Bhagwati, Tad Carney, and Lachlan Sutton received the honor. On the women’s side, Whitney Taylor and Layla Johnson were recognized. The award highlights not only athletic ability but also a commitment to academics.

Bhagwati, Carney, and Taylor achieved this recognition for a second consecutive year. The announcement noted that CSA Scholar-Athletes “embody the values of the association – achieving a high level of play on court while excelling in the classroom.”

The awards reflect ongoing efforts by student-athletes at Yale to balance rigorous academics with competitive sports participation.
