Fairfield University Women’s Tennis ended its 2025-26 season on Apr. 24 with a 4-1 defeat against top-seeded Quinnipiac in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship Semifinals at Princeton’s Cordish Family Outdoor Tennis Center.
The match marked the conclusion of Fairfield’s campaign, which saw them finish as the fourth seed in the conference championship. The team closed out their season with an overall record of 7-13 and a 5-3 mark during regular season conference play.
Quinnipiac established an early advantage by winning doubles matches at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions, securing the opening point. The top-flight doubles match featuring Anna Neyestani and Maria Gell—an All-MAAC First Team pair—was abandoned while tied at five games each.
In singles competition, Neyestani delivered Fairfield’s only point with a straight-set victory (6-2, 7-5) at No. 2 singles. However, Quinnipiac clinched the overall win by claiming matches at Nos. 1, 5, and 6 singles to advance to Sunday’s championship round.
At the time play concluded, Sophia Harris was leading her third set on court three (6-3, 3-6, 2-1), while Nicolette Loeffler was close to forcing a third set in her contest at No.4 (4-6, 6-5).
The result brings Fairfield’s competitive year to a close as they look ahead to future seasons.
