Fairfield University Women’s Tennis received four All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) honors for the 2026 season, according to an April 23 announcement from the conference office. Three players were recognized in singles play, and one doubles team was named to an all-conference team.
The recognition highlights the achievements of several student-athletes on the Fairfield squad. Anna Neyestani earned All-MAAC Second Team honors after posting a 5-3 record in conference matches, competing at both the top flight and #2 singles positions. Neyestani also received all-conference recognition last season and won the MAAC Masters Championship in fall 2024.
Sophia Harris was named to the All-MAAC Second Team in Singles as well. The freshman achieved a 5-3 record in MAAC singles play while competing across three different flights: #2, #3, and #4. Maria Gell rounded out Fairfield’s singles honorees with a spot on the All-MAAC Third Team after going 6-2 against conference opponents at three positions: #3, #5, and #6.
In doubles competition, Gell teamed up with Neyestani to secure First Team distinction for their performance at the top flight during MAAC play. The pair finished with a combined record of 5-2.
Additionally, eight Fairfield student-athletes were named to the MAAC All-Academic Team: Maeve Cassidy, Maria Gell, Meg Harding, Sarah Liu, Nicolette Loeffler, Lily Malinowski, Victoria Mandma, and Anna Neyestani. To qualify for this academic honor, athletes must have completed two semesters at their institution and maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
Looking ahead, Fairfield Women’s Tennis is set to begin postseason play in the semifinal round on Friday, May 1. The Stags will face top-seeded Quinnipiac at Princeton University.
