Fairfield University Women’s Golf finished in second place at the 2026 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship, according to an April 23 announcement. The tournament concluded Thursday at Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

The result marks Fairfield’s second runner-up finish in the last three seasons. Grace Windfelder led the team by placing second individually with a score of 213, which is the lowest 54-hole total ever recorded by a Fairfield player at the MAAC Championship and ranks as the second-best score in conference history.

Quinnipiac University claimed its second consecutive MAAC title, finishing three strokes ahead of Fairfield with a total score of 885 to Fairfield’s 888. The Stags closed the gap on Quinnipiac during Thursday’s final round by posting a team score of 295 compared to Quinnipiac’s 300. Fairfield finished four shots ahead of third-place University at Albany.

Windfelder shot her second straight round of two-under-par (70) on Thursday, finishing just one stroke behind this year’s champion Sophia Fujita from Quinnipiac, who posted a winning total of 212 to secure the McLeod Trophy. Three other Fairfield golfers—Ainhoa Jauregi, Addie Chang, and Katelynn Waclawski—tied for eighth place with scores of 225 and joined Windfelder on the All-Championship Team. Sofia Nogalo completed Fairfield’s lineup with a cumulative score that placed her twenty-eighth overall.

The Stags concluded their season with six top-three finishes out of eleven tournaments played.
