Fairfield women’s golf in second after first round of 2026 MAAC Championship

Fairfield University Women’s Golf is in second place after the first round of the 2026 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship, which began on April 21 at Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. Three Fairfield golfers are among the top ten individual competitors following their opening round.

The team’s score for the day was 301, placing them two strokes behind Quinnipiac, who leads after Round 1. Fairfield holds a five-shot lead over third-place University at Albany (UAlbany).

Grace Windfelder led Fairfield with a one-over-par score of 73, tying her for second place with Sophia Fujita from Quinnipiac. The individual leader is Thantita Aungsuseewong from UAlbany, who finished with an even-par 72.

Ainhoa Jauregi completed her round in sixth place with a score of 75. Katelynn Waclawski posted a score of 76 to share seventh position out of fifty golfers competing. Addie Chang scored a 77 and is tied for thirteenth place during her first career appearance at the conference tournament. Sofia Nogalo added an 81 to tie for twenty-ninth.

The championship continues Wednesday morning with Round Two teeing off at 8 a.m., and Fairfield’s group scheduled to start play at approximately 10:15 a.m.
