Fairfield University announced on April 27 that its scheduled softball game against Stony Brook University has been canceled and will not be rescheduled. The teams were set to play Tuesday afternoon at Alumni Softball Field.

The cancellation means the Fairfield Stags will complete their regular season with three Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference games against Saint Peter’s University this weekend. The series includes a doubleheader on Friday, starting at noon, followed by a single game on Saturday, also beginning at noon.

No reason for the cancellation was provided in the announcement. Both teams now turn their attention to upcoming conference matchups as they prepare for postseason play.

The decision affects both teams’ schedules but allows Fairfield to focus on finishing its regular season within conference play.
