Fairfield University Women’s Lacrosse will play against #13 Army West Point in the first round of the 2026 NCAA Championship, according to a May 3 announcement. The game is scheduled for Friday, May 8 at 6 p.m. and will take place at Homewood Field at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

The matchup comes after Fairfield secured its eighth consecutive appearance in the NCAA Championship. The team earned this spot by winning its second straight Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship and the tenth title in program history with a victory over Siena, finishing that game with a score of 13-4 at Rafferty Stadium. Fairfield enters the tournament with a record of 15 wins and three losses, riding an eleven-game winning streak.

Army West Point was selected for an at-large bid following their loss to Navy in the Patriot League Championship Game held in Annapolis. The Black Knights have an overall record of fourteen wins and four losses this season, including eight wins and one loss within their conference—their only Patriot League defeat coming against Navy as well. Earlier this season on March 4, Army hosted Fairfield and won that match-up by a score of fifteen to eight.

On the same bracket side, fourth-seeded Johns Hopkins—ranked fifth or tenth nationally depending on poll—will compete against America East Champion UAlbany on Friday afternoon prior to Fairfield’s game. Winners from both contests are set to meet during the NCAA Second Round scheduled for Sunday, May 10 at noon in Baltimore.

This tournament marks another opportunity for both programs as they seek advancement deeper into national competition.
