Senior defender Emmy Pascal of the No.10 Yale women’s lacrosse team was named a nominee for the Tewaaraton Award, according to an announcement on Apr. 16 by the Tewaaraton committee.
The Tewaaraton Award is given each year to the top female college lacrosse player in the United States. This recognition highlights Pascal’s achievements and her impact on both her team and collegiate lacrosse.
Pascal has been included on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List for two seasons, but this marks her first time as an official nominee. She has also earned midseason and preseason All-American honors from ILWomen, as well as preseason All-American recognition from USA Lacrosse. Earlier in the season, she was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week on Mar. 23.
As captain of Yale’s team, Pascal has started all 13 games this season for a defense that ranks second nationally in scoring defense with only 6.54 goals allowed per game. She leads the Ivy League in caused turnovers with 31 and is tied for fourth place in ground balls with 32.
This nomination marks consecutive years that a Yale player has been recognized; last year Fallon Vaughn was also nominated for the award. Five finalists will be announced in early May, with a winner chosen after the collegiate season ends.
Yale currently holds an overall record of 11-2 and remains undefeated at 5-0 within Ivy League play. The Bulldogs are set to host Harvard Saturday at noon.
