Connecticut College announced on May 19 that eight of its student-athletes have been selected for the 2026 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Spring All-Sportsmanship Team.

The recognition highlights the importance of sportsmanship and positive conduct in collegiate athletics. The NESCAC All-Sportsmanship Team honors student-athletes from each varsity sport who demonstrate dedication to sportsmanship, respect, and integrity both on and off the field.

This year’s honorees from Connecticut College include junior Samuel Bailey of men’s rowing, sophomore Sadie Joseph of women’s rowing, senior Alexander Stevens of men’s tennis, senior Lily Kerachsky of women’s tennis, senior Kevin Lieue of men’s track and field, senior Liz Freeman of women’s track and field, senior Daniel Smith of men’s lacrosse, and senior Campbell Johnston of women’s lacrosse. Both Lieue and Freeman earned this distinction for the second time in their careers; the other six are first-time recipients.

According to the announcement, “These student-athletes exhibit respect for themselves, teammates, coaches, opponents and spectators. They display sportsmanship not only as a participant in their sport but also as a spectator and in their everyday lives. Through their positive actions and example, these student-athletes inspire others to adhere to the quality of sportsmanship that the NESCAC and the NCAA endorse.”

The All-Sportsmanship Team was established by the NESCAC Student Advisory Committee on Athletics (SAAC), which acts as a liaison between student-athletes at member institutions and conference administrators. The committee represents concerns related to student-athlete welfare while promoting achievements within intercollegiate athletics.

Looking ahead, college officials say they hope such recognitions will continue encouraging high standards among athletes throughout future seasons.
