Christian Andres Tejada Segura, a 26-year-old citizen of the Dominican Republic residing in West Hazelton, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to three years in federal prison for a fentanyl trafficking offense. U.S. District Judge Vernon D. Oliver handed down the sentence in Hartford, which also includes 18 months of supervised release and a $20,000 fine.

According to court documents and statements made during proceedings, Tejada was arrested on May 24, 2023, in Orange, Connecticut. The arrest followed an undercover investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), during which agents arranged a fentanyl purchase with another individual. When taken into custody, Tejada was found carrying approximately 473 grams of fentanyl.

Tejada pleaded guilty on April 4, 2025, to possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl. He is currently released on a $50,000 bond and must report to prison on September 11.

The investigation was conducted by the DEA New Haven Task Force along with assistance from the West Haven Police Department and the New Haven Police Department. The task force comprises members from several agencies including the DEA, U.S. Marshals Service, Internal Revenue Service – Criminal Investigation Division, Connecticut State Police and multiple local police departments.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Brendan J. Keefe is prosecuting the case.
