David X. Sullivan, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, P.J. O’Brien, Special Agent in Charge of the New Haven Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Wallingford Police Chief John Ventura have announced that a federal grand jury has indicted Brandt Mendelson, 30, from Danbury. The indictment charges Mendelson with possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.
The grand jury returned the indictment on June 17, 2025. Mendelson was arrested the day before the announcement and released on a $100,000 bond.
According to the indictment and court statements, Mendelson was stopped by Wallingford Police while driving on January 18, 2025. He was arrested for driving under the influence. During his arrest, police found counterfeit Adderall pills containing methamphetamine in his possession. These pills were reportedly packaged for shipment through U.S. Mail.
If convicted, Mendelson faces a mandatory minimum prison sentence of five years and could receive up to 40 years.
U.S. Attorney Sullivan emphasized that an indictment does not imply guilt. “Charges are only allegations,” he stated, adding that “a defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.”
The investigation is being conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Wallingford Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Nathaniel J. Gentile is prosecuting the case.
