The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is set to hold a virtual public information meeting regarding the rehabilitation of Bridge No. 00374, which carries Route 2 over the Hockanum River in East Hartford. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. via Zoom. Interested participants are required to register for the event.
This meeting aims to provide the public and local community with an opportunity to comment or ask questions about the proposed project. A question and answer session will follow the presentation, which will be recorded. For details on accessing the meeting and submitting comments or questions, individuals can visit https://portal.ct.gov/DOTEastHartford0042-0331.
Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Manager Francisco Fadul emphasized the importance of addressing structural deficiencies impacting the bridge: “Addressing the structural deficiencies impacting this bridge will extend its service life, improve the condition rating, and provide overall safer travel for all roadway users crossing the Hockanum River.” He encouraged public participation to gather feedback that could be incorporated into the design.
No right-of-way impacts are anticipated with this project. Construction is expected to begin in spring 2028, contingent upon funding availability and permit approvals. The estimated construction cost is approximately $17.4 million, funded by 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
