The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is working on plans to realign the I-91 north and south ramps at Exit 24 in Rocky Hill. The project will involve removing slip ramps at the interchange to create shorter pedestrian crossings and upgrading signals, which will be integrated into the Computerized Traffic Signal System.

The initiative aims to address issues with signalized intersections at the I-91/CT 99 ramps, originally part of project 0118-0187. This project was separated to allow for a broader scope, including additional pedestrian safety improvements.

Design completion is expected by April 2026, with construction anticipated to begin in Fall 2026. This timeline depends on project acceptance, funding availability, and necessary permits. The project will be funded entirely by state funds.

CTDOT emphasizes the importance of public involvement in such projects and encourages community feedback. “It is the CTDOT’s policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken,” a statement from CTDOT reads.

For questions or comments regarding this project, individuals can contact Melanie Zimyeski, Project Engineer, at (860) 594-2144 or via email at Melanie.Zimyeski@ct.gov. Reference should be made to State Project No. 0118-0191.
