The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has announced an in-person public information meeting regarding sidewalk implementation on Route 99 and intersection improvements at Exit 24 on I-91 in Rocky Hill. The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at the Rocky Hill Community/Senior Center, located at 55 Church Street in Rocky Hill. The venue is ADA accessible.

Following the presentation, there will be a question and answer session. Minutes from the meeting will be recorded. Additional details can be found at portal.ct.gov/DOTRockyHill0118-0191.

Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Manager David Mancini stated, “This project will improve pedestrian safety by installing dedicated turn lanes, reducing the number and length pedestrian crossings, and connecting the existing sidewalks on Route 99 to address the gap in the pedestrian network within the project limits.” Mancini encourages public attendance to provide feedback that could be incorporated into the design.

No right-of-way impacts are expected. Construction is planned to start in spring 2027, contingent upon funding availability, rights-of-way acquisition, and permit approvals. The construction cost is estimated at approximately $6 million and will be funded with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.

Individuals with hearing or speech disabilities can use Telecommunications Relay Services by dialing 711. Those wishing to receive project information by mail within a week of the meeting can contact Melanie Zimyeski at Melanie.Zimyeski@ct.gov or (860) 594-2144.

Language assistance requests should be made through CTDOT’s Language Assistance call Line at (860) 594-2109 five business days before the meeting. Language assistance is free of charge and efforts will be made to accommodate timely requests.

Public comments and questions are welcome during a two-week period following the meeting until Tuesday, July 8, 2025. Comments can be sent to DOTProject0118-0191@ct.gov or Melanie Zimyeski via email or phone using State Project No. 0118-0191 as a reference.
