Connecticut’s annual Sales Tax Holiday is set to begin on Sunday, August 18th, and will run through Saturday, August 24th. The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) in Connecticut is urging residents to support local businesses during this period.

Andy Markowski, NFIB State Director, highlighted the importance of shopping locally: “When you shop locally, more of your hard-earned dollars stay within the community. Main Street is the backbone of our economy, creating good-paying jobs and supporting charitable organizations that keep our communities thriving. We hope that consumers will turn to local small businesses for all their shopping needs during this sales tax holiday.”

During the tax-free week, the standard 6.35% state sales tax will be waived on most clothing or footwear items priced under $100 each. This exemption applies regardless of how many items are purchased on a single invoice. Markowski added, “By shopping on Main Street, consumers are supporting their local communities while saving tax dollars, taking advantage of additional promotions, and discovering superb customer service.”

The Connecticut Department of Revenue Services has confirmed that the Tax Holiday begins at 12:01 AM ET on Sunday and ends at midnight on Saturday.

For further details about the tax holiday and eligible purchases, residents can seek more information from relevant sources.
