The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is set to hold a virtual public information meeting regarding the replacement of traffic control signals in Eastern Connecticut. The session will cover areas including Chaplin, Griswold, Ledyard, New London, Norwich, Old Saybrook, and Plainfield. Scheduled for Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., the meeting aims to provide an opportunity for the public and local community to offer feedback or ask questions about the proposed project.
According to CTDOT Project Manager Kaethe Podgorski, “The replacement of traffic control signals will modernize aging infrastructure to current standards, maintaining reliable operation and improving safety at various intersections across eastern Connecticut.” She encouraged public participation to gather feedback that could be incorporated into the design.
The meeting will be held on Zoom with a required registration. It will include a presentation followed by a question and answer session. The event will also be recorded. More details on accessing the meeting and providing comments can be found at https://portal.ct.gov/DOTEasternCT0172-0535.
Construction is anticipated to start in spring 2027 with an estimated cost of $10 million funded entirely by state resources. Right-of-way impacts are expected to be minimal around new signal equipment and sidewalks at some intersections involved in the project.
