The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is planning to construct a new bridge in Southbury at the site of Bridge No. 02437, which carries Route 67 over South Branch Bullet Hill Brook. The proposed construction aims to replace a temporary structure that was installed as an interim solution following a historic rainstorm in August 2024, which compromised the original bridge.

CTDOT plans to build the new bridge in approximately the same location as the temporary one. The design phase is expected to be completed by November 2026, with construction projected to begin in spring 2027. This timeline is contingent upon project approval, funding availability, and the acquisition of necessary right-of-way and environmental permits. The project will be financed through 80 percent federal funds and 20 percent state funds.

CTDOT emphasizes the importance of public involvement in such projects. “It is CTDOT’s policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken and important that the community share its concerns with CTDOT to assist in the project’s development.”

For questions or comments regarding this project, individuals can contact Andrew Cardinali, the Principal Engineer, at (860) 594-3315 or via email at Andrew.Cardinali@ct.gov, making reference to Bridge No. 02437.
