The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has scheduled an in-person public informational meeting to discuss proposed lane reconfigurations on Route 32 at Old Norwich Road and State Route 693 in Waterford. The meeting will take place on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at the Waterford Town Hall, with a formal design presentation beginning at 6:30 p.m. The venue is accessible to individuals with disabilities.
The meeting aims to inform residents and local stakeholders about the proposed changes and provide an opportunity for public feedback. A question and answer session will follow the design presentation. Information on how to access the meeting and ways to submit comments or questions is available at portal.ct.gov/DOTWaterford0152-0163.
Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Manager Nicholas Ivanoff stated, “This project will reduce congestion and related crashes at this intersection by reconfiguring the lanes for additional capacity and upgrading the existing traffic signals. We encourage the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team to incorporate into the design.”
The project’s right-of-way impacts are expected to be limited, affecting only the reconstruction and grading of residential driveways within the project area.
Construction is expected to begin in fall 2027, depending on funding availability and permit approvals. The estimated construction cost is about $11 million. Funding for the project is planned to be split between federal and state sources, with 80% from federal funds and 20% from state funds.
Individuals unable to attend the meeting can request that project information be mailed to them by contacting Nicholas Ivanoff at (860) 594-2597. Language assistance is available by calling the CTDOT Language Assistance Call Line at (860) 594-2109, with requests recommended at least five business days before the meeting. This service is free, and CTDOT will try to accommodate timely requests.
Public comments and questions can be submitted during a two-week period following the meeting. The deadline for submissions is Thursday, November 20, 2025. Comments can be sent to DOTProject152-163@ct.gov, (860) 594-2020, or directly to Nicholas Ivanoff at Nicholas.Ivanoff@ct.gov or (860) 594-2841.
