The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is set to hold a virtual public information meeting regarding the replacement of Bridge No. 05999, which carries Route 85 over Jordan Brook in Waterford. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 6:30 p.m.
This meeting aims to provide an opportunity for the public and local community to offer comments or ask questions about the proposed project. It will be conducted on Zoom, requiring prior registration. A question and answer session will follow the presentation, which will be recorded. Details on accessing the meeting and submitting comments can be found at https://portal.ct.gov/DOTWaterford0152-0162.
“The replacement of the culvert will improve traveler safety over Jordan Brook while considering the future travel needs of the community, such as increased accommodations for bicyclists and pedestrians,” stated Francisco Fadul, Project Manager at CTDOT.
The project involves right-of-way impacts, including partial takes and easements. Construction is expected to start in spring 2028, contingent upon funding availability, acquisition of rights of way, and permit approvals. The estimated construction cost is approximately $5 million, with funding anticipated to come from 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
