The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has scheduled a virtual public information meeting to discuss the replacement of Bridge No. 00421, which carries Route 4 over Guinea Brook in Sharon. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. Registration is required for attendance.
The purpose of the meeting is to allow members of the public and the local community to provide comments or ask questions about the proposed project. A presentation will be followed by a question and answer session, and the event will be recorded. Details on how to access the meeting and submit feedback are available at portal.ct.gov/DOTSharon0125-0131.
“This project will provide a crucial improvement to our state’s bridge network and will address sight line issues from East Street to Route 4 to improve safety for the traveling public,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Manager Francisco Fadul. “We encourage the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team to incorporate into the design.”
The proposed realignment of East Street may require partial property acquisitions, slope easements, or other rights that will be determined as design progresses.
Construction is expected to begin in 2029 if funding is secured, rights-of-way are acquired, and permits are approved. The estimated cost for construction is approximately $8 million, with funding anticipated from both federal (80%) and state (20%) sources.
