The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has announced a second virtual public information meeting regarding the replacement of Bridge No. 02112, which carries Route 10 over an unnamed brook in Avon. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. and will be held on Zoom. Registration is required to attend.

The session aims to provide local residents and stakeholders with an opportunity to comment or ask questions about the proposed bridge replacement project. Following the presentation, there will be a question and answer period, and the entire meeting will be recorded. Information on how to access the meeting and submit feedback can be found at http://portal.ct.gov/DOTAvon0004-0136.

“The purpose of the meeting is to present additional Complete Streets elements introduced to the project that will ensure safety improvements for pedestrians and bicyclists on Route 10 between the Talcott Notch Road and Old Farms Road intersections,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation, Francisco Fadul. “We encourage the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team to incorporate into the design.”

According to CTDOT, right-of-way impacts are anticipated as part of this project. These may include partial property acquisitions, slope easements, drainage rights of way, temporary construction easements, and other rights.

Construction is expected to begin in spring 2027. The estimated cost for replacing Bridge No. 02112 is about $7 million. Funding for this project will come from both federal and state sources, with federal funds covering 80% of costs and state funds covering the remaining 20%.

For those with limited internet access, it is possible to listen to the meeting by calling (877) 853-5257 and entering Meeting ID 857 4982 9658. Individuals who have hearing or speech disabilities may use Telecommunications Relay Services by dialing 711. Those without reliable internet can also request printed project materials by contacting Project Manager Francisco Fadul via email at Francisco.Fadul@ct.gov or phone at (860) 594-2078.

Language assistance services are available upon request by calling (860) 594-2109 at least five business days before the event; these services are provided free of charge.

Non-English language closed captioning will be offered during the Zoom session. Afterward, a recording will be posted in CTDOT’s public meeting playlist at portal.ct.gov/ctdotVPIMarchive.

Members of the public may submit comments or questions during a two-week period following the meeting until Wednesday, February 18, 2026. Submissions can be made via email at DOTProject0004-0136@ct.gov or Francisco.Fadul@ct.gov or by phone at (860)-594-2020 or (860) 594-2078. Correspondence should reference Project No. 0004-0136.
