The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will hold a hybrid public meeting concerning the replacement of a stone culvert under Route 19 carrying East Street in Stafford. The session is scheduled for Thursday, May 29, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at the Stafford Community Center in Stafford Springs. The venue is accessible for individuals with disabilities.
The meeting will allow the public to express their views or raise questions about the proposed project. More details can be found at their website. CTDOT’s Nicholas Ivanoff explained, “This project will replace a structurally deficient culvert to improve roadway drainage and safety operations in the project limits. We encourage the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team to incorporate into the design.”
Associated with the proposed developments are right-of-way impacts, which involve temporary construction easements, drainage easements, an aerial easement, rights regarding a stone wall, and access for grading and constructing driveways.
Construction is expected to start in Spring 2027, with an estimated cost of $2.7 million. Eighty percent of the funding is expected from federal sources, with the remaining 20% provided by the state.
