The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will hold a hybrid public information meeting on March 4, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. to discuss the planned replacement of three bridges in Southington. The session will take place in the Assembly Room at the John Weichsel Municipal Center and will also be accessible via Zoom for those who register online.
The meeting aims to give residents and community members an opportunity to comment or ask questions about the proposed bridge replacement project. A question-and-answer segment will follow the presentation, which will be recorded. Details on how to join virtually and submit feedback are available at portal.ct.gov/DOTSOUTHINGTON0131-0214.
“Replacing these bridges will provide the local community with continued safe mobility through a design-build contract for faster improvements,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Manager, Richard Prescott. “We encourage the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team to incorporate into the design.”
Project plans include right-of-way impacts for roadway reconstruction, drainage headwall work, and slope grading. Construction is expected to start in summer 2028, depending on funding availability, acquisition of necessary rights of way, and permit approvals. The estimated construction cost ranges from $60 million to $90 million and is expected to be funded with 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
Individuals without reliable internet can listen by phone or request that project materials be mailed within one week by contacting Richard Prescott at Richard.prescott@ct.gov or calling (860) 594-2708. Telecommunications Relay Services are available for those with hearing or speech disabilities by dialing 711.
Language assistance is offered free of charge if requested at least five business days before the meeting by calling (860) 594-2109. Non-English closed captioning will be provided during the Zoom session, and a recording will later be posted on CTDOT’s public meeting playlist at portal.ct.gov/ctdotVPIMarchive.
Comments and questions can also be submitted during a two-week period following the meeting until March 18, 2026. Submissions can be sent by email or phone using contacts provided above; reference State Project No. 0131-0214 when doing so.
