The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will hold a hybrid public information meeting about the planned replacement of the culvert carrying Route 201 over Ashwillet Brook in North Stonington. The meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 13, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. It will take place at the North Stonington Education Center and also be available virtually via Zoom with required registration.

The purpose of the meeting is to give residents and community members an opportunity to comment or ask questions about the proposed project. A question and answer session will follow the presentation, which will be recorded.

“This project will replace an existing deteriorated twin corrugated metal pipe culvert and improve roadway drainage and safety in the project limits,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Manager Joseph Arsenault. “We encourage the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team to incorporate into the design.”

Planned improvements may require partial property acquisitions, slope easements, and rights-of-way adjustments. Construction is expected to begin in spring 2029, depending on funding availability, right-of-way acquisition, and permit approvals. The estimated construction cost is around $5 million, with funding anticipated to come from 80% federal sources and 20% state sources.

CTDOT has promoted safety through initiatives such as work zone awareness and supported infrastructure projects through grants across Connecticut (official website). The agency maintains its headquarters in Newington while managing transportation services statewide (official website). Garrett Eucalitto serves as commissioner of CTDOT (official website).

Individuals without internet access can listen by calling (877) 853-5257 using Meeting ID 870 2220 6442. Those with hearing or speech disabilities may use Telecommunications Relay Services by dialing 711. Project information can also be mailed upon request by contacting Joseph Arsenault at Joseph.D.Arsenault@ct.gov or (860) 594-3471.

Language assistance is available free of charge by contacting CTDOT’s Language Assistance Call Line at (860) 594-2109 at least five business days before the meeting. Non-English closed captioning will be provided on Zoom, and a recording will be posted after the event on CTDOT’s public meeting playlist.

Comments and questions can be submitted during a two-week period following the meeting until Monday, April 27, 2026. Submissions should reference Project No. 0101-0119 and may be sent to DOTProject0101-0119@ct.gov, (860) 594-2020, or directly to Joseph Arsenault at (860) 594-3471 or Joseph.D.Arsenault@ct.gov.
