The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will hold a public hearing on March 19, 2026, regarding the proposed rehabilitation or replacement of the Cribari Memorial Bridge in Westport. The bridge, identified as Bridge No. 01349, carries Route 136 over the Saugatuck River.

The event will take place at the Westport Town Hall Auditorium at 110 Myrtle Avenue and is scheduled to start with an open house at 6:00 p.m., followed by a formal presentation at 7:00 p.m. Attendees will have opportunities to discuss questions directly with CTDOT project staff and learn more about the proposal.

Instructions for accessing the meeting and submitting comments are available at portal.ct.gov/Cribari-Bridge.

James Barrows, Project Manager for CTDOT, said, “The purpose of this project is to address the structural and functional deficiencies of the existing bridge while accommodating safe vehicular, bicycle, pedestrian, and marine travel. We encourage the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team to incorporate into the design.”

Planned right-of-way impacts involve partial easements for construction access and laydown areas; permanent right-of-way impacts are not expected. Construction could begin in spring 2030 if funding is secured, rights of way are acquired, and permits are approved. The final cost will depend on both project scope and selected alternatives.

CTDOT offers Telecommunications Relay Services for individuals with hearing or speech disabilities by dialing 711. Those without internet access can request mailed information from James Barrows by contacting him at James.Barrows@ct.gov or (860) 594-3192 within one week.

Language assistance services can be arranged through CTDOT’s Language Assistance Call Line at (860) 594-2109 if requested five business days before the meeting; these services are provided free of charge.

Public comments and questions will be accepted from February 17 until April 17, 2026. Submissions can be made online or via phone at (860) 594-2020. Written correspondence should reference Project No. 0158-0214 and be sent to ATTN: James Barrows, Connecticut Department of Transportation, 2800 Berlin Turnpike P.O.
