The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has announced a virtual public information meeting regarding the replacement of Bridge No. 00331, which carries U.S. Route 1 over West River in New Haven and West Haven. The meeting is scheduled for July 30, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. on Zoom.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide the public and local community with an opportunity to comment or ask questions about the proposed project. A question and answer session will follow the presentation, which will be recorded. Details on accessing the meeting and submitting comments can be found at portal.ct.gov/DOTWestHaven0156-0185.
“This project will improve the bridge’s safety and the hydraulic performance with a full bridge replacement,” stated CTDOT Project Manager Francisco Fadul. He encouraged public participation to gather feedback that could be incorporated into the design.
Right-of-way impacts are expected, including temporary and permanent easements on both sides of U.S. Route 1. Construction is anticipated to start in spring 2028, contingent upon funding availability, rights of way acquisition, and permit approvals. The estimated cost of construction is approximately $21 million, funded by 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
