The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is set to hold a virtual public information meeting on June 25, 2025, regarding the replacement of Bridge No. 04986 on Sugar Hollow Road over the Norwalk River in Wilton. The session will commence at 6:00 p.m. via Zoom, with registration required for participation.

The purpose of this meeting is to engage with the community, allowing them to provide feedback or ask questions about the proposed bridge project. Following a presentation, a question and answer session will take place, and both will be recorded. Instructions for accessing the meeting can be found at https://portal.ct.gov/DOTWilton161-147.

“This project will reopen the bridge with a new structure that will be able to hold current load standards with improved safety measures for all roadway users,” stated Marc Byrnes, CTDOT Project Manager. He emphasized the importance of public attendance to share input that could influence the design process.

The project involves several right-of-way impacts including partial property acquisitions and easements necessary for construction activities such as drainage installation and sediment control systems. Construction is expected to start in spring 2028 pending funding availability and permit approvals, with an estimated cost of $4 million funded by federal (80%) and state (20%) contributions.

For those without internet access, participation via phone is possible by dialing (877) 853-5257 using Meeting ID 845 2836 2065. Individuals with hearing or speech disabilities can use Telecommunications Relay Services by dialing 711. Alternatively, project details can be mailed upon request through Andrew Shields at Andrew.Shields@ct.gov or (860) 594-2077.

Language assistance services are available upon request five business days prior to the meeting by contacting CTDOT’s Language Assistance Call Line at (860) 594-2109. Non-English closed captioning will also be provided during the Zoom meeting.

Comments and questions from the public are welcome during a two-week period following the meeting until July 9, 2025. Submissions should reference Project No. 0161-0147 and can be directed to DOT-FLBP@ct.gov or Andrew Shields at Andrew.Shields@ct.gov or (860) 594-2077.
