The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has announced the closure of Exit 56 on I-84 Eastbound in East Hartford for bridge rehabilitation activities. The work on Bridge No. 02380 is set to begin on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, and will continue until Sunday, July 27, 2025. This project is part of a larger initiative involving pin and hanger rehabilitation on various bridges throughout Greater Hartford.

Rotha Contracting Company, Inc. was awarded CTDOT Project No. 0170-3551 at a cost of $5,413,828.30 on December 28, 2022. The project is expected to be completed by July 2, 2026. It is being managed by the Bureau of Engineering and Construction’s Office of Construction in District 1 located in Rocky Hill.

During the closure period, traffic will be rerouted to Exit 58 on I-84 Eastbound. Motorists are instructed to turn left onto Roberts Street and then right to access I-84 Westbound leading back to Exit 56 at Governor Street. Traffic control signs and detour signage will be in place to guide drivers through the work zone.

Motorists should remain cautious as modifications or extensions to this schedule may occur due to weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances. Drivers are advised to maintain a safe speed while traveling in the area.
