The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced on April 13 that it will hold an in-person public information meeting about the rehabilitation of Bridge No. 04934, which carries Valley Road over the Aspetuck River. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 30 at 7:00 p.m. at the Easton Public Library.
The purpose of the meeting is to inform residents and gather public input on plans to replace the bridge deck, railing, and superstructure. A question-and-answer session will follow a presentation by department officials. According to Project Manager Hayley Martin, “This rehabilitation will consist of replacing the deck, railing, and superstructure with new components to ensure bridge longevity and safety for all roadway users.” Martin also said, “We encourage the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team to incorporate into the design.”
No right-of-way impacts are expected from this project. Construction is planned for 2028 if funding becomes available and permits are approved. The estimated cost is $2 million and would be funded with 80 percent federal funds and 20 percent state funds.
The Connecticut Department of Transportation has promoted safety through work zone awareness initiatives and supported community infrastructure via grants according to its official website. The agency maintains its headquarters in Newington while managing transportation services across Connecticut according to its official website. Garrett Eucalitto serves as commissioner overseeing policies and initiatives according to its official website.
