The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced on Apr. 8 that it will hold a public informational meeting about proposed drainage improvements on Route 42 (North Brooksvale Road) in Cheshire. The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 28, at the Norton School café and auditorium at 414 North Brooksvale Road, beginning with an open house at 6:00 p.m., followed by a formal presentation at 6:30 p.m.
The purpose of the meeting is to inform residents and gather feedback from the community regarding the planned project. The location is accessible for individuals with disabilities, and information about submitting comments or questions can be found at portal.ct.gov/DOTCheshire0025-0149.
“This project will replace the existing drainage system, adding increased capacity to improve roadway drainage and reduce flooding during larger storm events,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Manager Nicholas Ivanoff. “We encourage the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team to incorporate into the design.”
The department reports that right-of-way impacts are expected, including temporary construction easements, drainage easements, and partial property acquisitions for sidewalk reconstruction. Construction is anticipated to begin in spring 2028 if funding becomes available and all permits are approved. The estimated cost for construction is about $5 million, funded by approximately 80% federal funds and 20% state funds.
