The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced on May 15 that it will hold a virtual public information meeting regarding the rehabilitation of two retaining walls on Route 53 in Weston. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 17, at 6:30 p.m. and will be conducted via Zoom.
The purpose of the meeting is to allow residents and members of the local community to provide comments or ask questions about the proposed project. Registration is required to attend, and a question-and-answer session will follow the presentation. The session will be recorded, and instructions for access are available at portal.ct.gov/DOTWeston0173-0539.
“This rehabilitation ensures that the retaining walls will remain structurally sound, keeping roadway users safe,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Project Manager Francisco Fadul. “We encourage the public to attend this meeting to share their feedback with the CTDOT project team to incorporate into the design.”
According to Fadul, no right-of-way impacts are anticipated as part of this project. Construction is expected to begin in spring 2028 if funding becomes available and permits are approved. The estimated cost is approximately $3 million, with all funding anticipated from state sources.
Audio-only access can be obtained by calling a provided number with a specific Meeting ID, while individuals needing hearing or speech assistance may use Telecommunications Relay Services by dialing 711. Requests for mailed information can be made by contacting Francisco Fadul directly.
Language assistance services are available at no cost if requested at least five business days before the event through CTDOT’s Language Assistance Call Line. Non-English closed captioning will also be offered during the Zoom presentation, and a recording will later appear on CTDOT’s public meeting playlist online.
Public comments may be submitted during a two-week period following the event until July 1 via email or phone using contact details provided by CTDOT officials.
