The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has announced the allocation of over $17.3 million in grants for 15 bridge projects across the state. This funding is part of the State Local Bridge Program, a cost-sharing initiative that covers 50% of project costs for locally owned bridges. Municipalities are responsible for the design and construction phases, while CTDOT supervises project milestones and offers guidance.
“This program helps keep locally owned bridges in good repair, ensuring they remain safe and reliable for all travelers,” said Connecticut Department of Transportation Commissioner Garrett Eucalitto. “As the program continues to deliver real results for communities both big and small, its popularity grows year after year. We’re proud to support these efforts and get the projects to the finish line.”

The Local Bridge Program was established by the Connecticut General Assembly in 1984 as a component of the State’s Infrastructure Renewal Program. With around 4,200 local bridges and culverts located along municipally maintained roads throughout Connecticut—construction and maintenance responsibilities lie with their respective municipalities—the program offers substantial financial aid to ease these burdens.
