The Amalgamated Transit Union and ATU Hartford Local 425 endorsed John Larson for re-election on May 18, joining a coalition of 23 unions and the Working Families Party. The union cited Larson’s “unwavering commitment to working people and organized labor” as the reason for their support.

The endorsement underscores the importance of labor backing in this election, as candidates seek to demonstrate their support for workers’ rights. The ATU represents approximately 200,000 members nationwide.

ATU International President John Costa said that Larson has consistently fought “to protect the rights, wages, and dignity of workers across Connecticut and the country,” highlighting his co-sponsorship of the PRO Act “to strengthen collective bargaining rights, hold union-busting employers accountable, and ensure that workers across industries have a fair right to organize.”

Larson said, “I’m grateful for the support of the transit workers who keep our district moving. I always have, and always will, stand shoulder to shoulder with workers to demand the wages, benefits, protections, and dignity they’ve earned. Our workers deserve an unflinching ally who will fight tooth and nail for them every single day.”

According to campaign materials released by Larson For Congress, his record includes supporting pro-worker legislation such as Project Labor Agreement requirements and joining picket lines with unions including IAM (International Association of Machinists), UAW (United Auto Workers), UNITE HERE!, and striking Starbucks workers.

The ATU joins a list of other labor organizations endorsing Larson ahead of the primary election.
